How to Wait on God Without Feeling Stuck
Have you ever prayed and felt like nothing was happening?
You call out, you hope, you hold on… but the silence feels endless.
And after a while, waiting on God can feel like being stuck.
I know that feeling well.
The exhaustion. The questions. The temptation to think, “Maybe God’s not listening.”
But then I discovered something that changed the way I see waiting forever.
The Promise We Miss
Isaiah 40:31 says:
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”
For years I thought waiting meant standing still, doing nothing until God finally moved. But the Hebrew word here — qavah — doesn’t mean that. It means to bind together by twisting, like braiding strands into a rope.
Waiting on God is not passive.
It’s an act of weaving your weakness into His strength, your frailty into His power, until the two can’t be pulled apart.
When Waiting Feels Like Breaking
I’ve had days where fear told me, “You’ll be stuck here forever.”
Nights when doubt whispered, “You don’t have what it takes.”
Moments when even getting up felt impossible.
But in those times, God showed me something: waiting isn’t punishment. Waiting is protection. It’s in the waiting that He binds me to Himself. And once I’m bound to Him, I can’t fall apart — because He’s holding me together.
The Exchange
When you wait on God this way, something supernatural happens:
That’s why Isaiah says waiting leads to renewed strength, endurance, and the soaring of an eagle. It’s not about doing nothing — it’s about a strength exchange.
So If You’re Tired…
If you’re stuck right now, if your prayers feel unanswered and your hope feels thin — don’t see waiting as wasted time.
See it as the moment where God is weaving your life into His.
See it as the place where His peace enters your chaos, His joy pushes back your fear, and His strength takes over your weakness.
Because when you wait like that, you won’t just survive the waiting.
You’ll walk, you’ll run, you’ll soar.
Waiting on God isn’t about standing still. It’s about twisting your life into His until His strength carries you further than you ever thought you could go.
