Do You Carry the Title… and the Evidence?
The Question That Arrests the Heart
If someone arrested you today for being a Christian… would there be enough evidence to convict you?
Not the title “Christian.”
Not church attendance.
Not the Bible on your coffee table.
Not the worship songs on your playlist.
I mean evidence.
Something visible. Something undeniable. Something that proves—without you saying a word—that you belong to Jesus.
Because many people carry the title, but very few carry the heart behind the title.
The Title vs the Heart
It is possible to wear the badge and never bear the cross.
It is possible to speak the language and never live the life.
It is possible to know Scripture and still refuse to obey Scripture.
Jesus never said His followers would be known by their claims, their emotions, or their vocabulary.
He said they would be recognised by their fruit.
Fruit is evidence.
Not intention. Not enthusiasm. Not appearance.
Evidence.
What God Calls Evidence
Biblically, fruit is the visible outcome of obedience flowing from faithfulness.
Not emotion. Not routine. Not religion.
We see this pattern consistently throughout Scripture:
Noah obeyed before he understood.
Abraham obeyed when obedience cost him everything.
Moses obeyed through fear and weakness.
Joshua obeyed boldly.
David obeyed even after failure.
Daniel obeyed under threat.
Mary obeyed in surrender.
Peter obeyed after denial.
Paul obeyed the heavenly vision.
None of them were perfect. All of them were faithful.
And faithfulness always produces evidence.
The Modern Crisis: Custom-Made Christianity
This is where the modern church faces a serious problem.
Many want God’s promises, without God’s commands.
Grace without repentance.
The love of Christ without the lordship of Christ.
Belonging to Jesus without following Jesus.
Another insists she loves Jesus while holding tightly to a lifestyle Scripture clearly calls sin.
Both appeal to the same phrase: “We’re under grace.”
But that isn’t grace.
Grace is not permission to remain unchanged. Grace is the power to be transformed.
Grace does not excuse sin. Grace empowers obedience.
The Shredder Moment: Scripture Is Non-Negotiable
Every believer eventually reaches a point of honesty.
Either we believe the Bible—cover to cover—or we may as well put it through a shredder.
God does not offer part-time truth. And He does not accept part-time Christianity.
We cannot keep the verses that comfort us, and discard the verses that confront us.
We cannot claim the promises, while rejecting the commandments.
We cannot say “God heals”, but deny that God also judges.
When Jesus asked, “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”, He wasn’t being harsh.
He was exposing casual Christianity.
My Own Evidence: Choosing to Believe God
At one point, I had to make a personal decision:
If the Bible says it, I will live like it is true.
Not debate it. Not soften it. Not explain it away.
When Scripture says that believing prayer brings results, I decided to believe—fully.
I prayed for healing from pain I had carried for years. And God healed me.
Not because I am special, but because I finally chose obedience over argument.
That is evidence. Not spectacle. Not hype. Just obedience.
The Mirror Moment
So let me ask you—gently, but honestly:
If someone followed you for one week, what would they see?
Forgiveness?
Love?
Holiness?
Repentance?
Obedience?
Humility?
Generosity?
A life shaped by Scripture?
A life that reflects Christ?
You carry the title. But do you carry the heart behind the title?
The Christian Life in One Flow
Scripture gives us a simple, unbreakable pattern:
Faithfulness leads to obedience. Obedience shapes righteousness. Righteousness produces peace.
This is not theory. It is the Christian life.
Revival Starts with Evidence
Revival does not begin with a building.
Or a pulpit.
Or a program.
Or an event.
It begins with one believer who stops carrying the title and starts carrying the evidence.
One believer who says:
I will believe the Bible.
I will obey Jesus.
I will surrender my life.
I will be faithful.
I will be the evidence.
The Final Questions
You carry the title. But do you carry the heart?
And if you were arrested for being a Christian… would there be enough evidence to convict you?
