Why Do You Want It?
Instead of asking, “How badly do you want it?”, let’s try, “Why do you want it?”—because let’s face it, if the answer is “I don’t know, I just thought it sounded cool,” you might want to reconsider before setting that 5 a.m. alarm.
Desire is great, but it’s kind of like a sugar rush—it’s exciting at first, but it wears off fast, leaving you staring at the ceiling wondering why you signed up for this. Purpose, on the other hand, is the slow-burning fuel that keeps you going when things get tough.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying you shouldn’t work hard—I’m just saying if you’re waking up at 4 a.m. to grind, and by 10 a.m. you’re grinding your teeth from exhaustion, maybe rethink your strategy. Hustle culture is great… until you realize that coffee can’t fix a mental breakdown.
So instead of fueling the fire with relentless effort, fuel it with thoughtful action—and maybe a little common sense. Success isn’t a race to see who can burn out first.
So, ask yourself not just how badly you want it, but whether the path you’re on, will make you smile. After all, if you’re miserable along the way, what’s the point?
And remember: if you want something meaningful, don’t just do something you’ve never done—maybe also try something that doesn’t involve crying into your 12th cup of coffee.
Have fun
