Take Time to Think
8 July 2025
It’s a human thing - how often we forget the power of just pausing for a moment, especially when the pressure’s on.
I think we’ve all been there—something urgent comes up, and we dive headfirst into solving it without a second thought. But here’s the thing: when we act too quickly, we risk missing the influence on the bigger picture. Not to mention the waste of time and energy of having to do it over.
Taking a little time to think isn’t about procrastinating or avoiding action. It’s about giving yourself the emotional "space" to clear your head and make good decisions.
It's like using a knife - you could keep hacking away at something with a dull blade, but if you pause to sharpen it, you’re much more effective.
When you're under pressure, the instinct is to keep moving—don’t stop, just push through. But some of the best solutions come when you take a step back, breathe, and give your brain room to process. You’re not just reacting anymore; you’re responding with purpose.
It’s like the carpenter's old saying: “Measure twice, cut once.” The same applies to your thoughts. If you give yourself a moment to really think things through, you’re much less likely to regret your choices later.
And honestly, that moment of calm can be just what you need to regain your focus. Pressure doesn’t have to mean panic—it can be a reminder to pause and trust yourself to find the right path forward.
Abraham Lincoln said - If I have six hours to chop down a tree, I'll spend four of those hours sharpening the blade.
